PRECISION RIFLE

Learn the basics of using a scoped precision rifle. We will cover set-up, equipment and zeroing of your rifle. During the the first portion, will use a laser bore sight in order to get you on paper and save on ammunition. We will cover shooting positions, and the practical applications of using your rifle, as well as safety. Next we will head out to a flat range and get a true ‘zero’ for your weapon. Finally, we will head out to the ranch for long distance shooting. Depending on your weapon’s capabilities, we will shoot at distances from 300 yards to 1000 yards with as far as one mile depending on caliber and equipment. Cost:

COURSE GOALS:
Upon completion of this course the student will be familiar with:

1. Proper weapons maintenance
2. Understanding cold zero and how to gather DOPE
3.Effectively engage targets at various distances in various weather conditions
4.Increased probability and confidence of first round hits at distance
5. Understand your rifle, caliber, scope, and equipment

NEEDED/RECOMMENDED ITEMS:

Precision rifle and optic with subtended reticle (we will get a true flat zero prior to range day)
Your optic should have exposed turrets with either MIL or MOA divisions .25” MOA works best). The reticle should be a subtended reticle with either MIL or MOA subtensions. A standard Duplex reticle will not work for this course.
Rifle bipod and sand bag / rear support
Match grade ammunition and magazines (150 rounds of same ammunition) feel free to contact me for ammo recommendations or possible ways to get the amount needed.
Ear and eye protection

Spotting scope or good binoculars

Laser range finder is recommended although I have one for the class

Kestrel wind meter
Rifle Cleaning kit and lens cleaning kit (bore guide, barrel brush, scag, patches, oil/grease)
Pens or pencils and large notebook to record your sessions
Weather appropriate clothing (it can get cold/hot and windy) - you don’t get to pick the forecast for a shooting engagement!
